RCAF CC-115 Buffalo Assigned To 442 Sqn At Airshow London 2017
I love photographing the yellow SAR aircraft. Seeing the Buffalo fly at Airshow London was a real treat. The de Havilland CC-115 Buffalo is a RCAF Search and Rescue aircraft used since the 1960s. All the RCAF Buffalos are deployed out of 442 Transport and Rescue Squadron in Comox, British Columbia. Their zone of operation is from BC-Washington border to the Arctic and from 1200 km into the Pacific Ocean to the Rocky Mountains. The Buffalo's take off and landing capabilities are unlike and of their kind, being able to land in areas as short as a soccer field, they are perfect for the rough and mountainous terrain they are operating in. Within the next year the CC-115s are going to start to be phased out, being replaced by the Airbus C-295s. Photo Taken: 23 Sep 17 Photo Location: London, Ontario (Airshow London)
