A rain storm late afternoon ended up being a gift later on when the sun was beginning to set.
This photo has a hefty story attached to it. Looking out our hotel room window during the sunset in Innsbruck was an unexpected, perfect ending to a difficult day. Losing Eurail passes, spending hours with the Swiss police, hopping on another train and forgetting our tickets.. again! We walked into our Hilton hotel to a free upgrade to a mountain view room, two complimentary beverages at the bar (much needed after our day) and two free snacks! I couldn't help but laugh as the concierge, giving me a weird look, was explaining this to us! Thank you Innsbruck for your hospitality and beautiful views! We ended up staying an extra day!
Mountains. Water. Sunset. Medieval Charm. What more could you ask for in a day? Wandering the streets of Lucerne with an ice cream cone in hand was a magical day. We listened to the water crashing on the shores, saw lots of swans swimming and had a mountain back drop view as we strolled the streets. The cherry on top was the beautiful sunset over the Kapellbrücke.
After literally getting lost in Venice, having pizza, snacking on gelato and wandering aimlessly through the streets we found ourselves near where we started with an orange glow, letting us know the night was near.
Sunsets are easy to take for granted, we live through them every day. But sometimes it's nice to slow down and take in just how beautiful this planet we call home can be.
