It's a brisk night... you know the green lights will be out... it is your last night in Alaska... wake up call is in the wee hours of the morning... What do you do? Stay up and photograph them of course! Side note: I did sleep on the plane!
It's the spontaneous nights that are the most memorable. Going into the evening knowing the Auroras were going to be out, I decided I would just admire them in the Alaskan skies. After standing outside for a few minutes, it was realized my camera was needed, I couldn't just let this night pass me by without capturing to share with everyone. A great ending to a three week trip.
