The wall of the 'walled city' of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. We were walking along the wall from the inside, peering out through.
With an ice cream in hand, you could almost say it was the perfect day. This town is absolutely stunning with the old feel it has to it. It removes you from the modern style of living and inserts you into a medieval style of living.
The town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a beautiful walled city that is definitely worth a few hours of your time. Strolling on the cobblestone streets and admiring the medieval feel of the town is really something. Its unlike any other city I have been too. Oh, and they have an amazing Christmas store!
Ah! Bavaria land is stunning as the sun begins to set around the mountains. Hohenschwangau castle can be seen in the distance, just a tiny spec compared to the mountains all around.
It's a short walk to a perfect view, that is Queen Mary's Bridge (Marienbruke), which is where you get the heavenly view of Neuschwanstein Castle. If you are going to Bavaria land, make time for Mary's Bridge. It is a worthwhile view.
As we approached the entrance to Neuschwanstein Castle, I loved the up close view. You always see the view from Queen Mary's Bridge but it's neat to see views that different.
Ever since I was little I've wanted to go to see this castle. My parents had a painting of it on our walls and I'd always admire it and dream of the day I would finally walk through it. It finally happened and I was not disappointed. The passion King Ludwig II had to build this escape shows throughout the insides that were completed. Neuschwanstein Castle was definitely a fairy tale coming true.
The less popular but just as worthwhile Hohenschwangau Castle. This was the home of King Ludwig II as a young boy. If you are in the area, it is worth going through both castles, they are both interesting in their own way.
The Holocaust Memorial in Berlin was like nothing I've ever seen. There are so many stones throughout the memorial. It really tries to put in perspective just how many Jewish people were murdered during WWII. I'm really glad we took time to see this memorial. It still sticks out in my mind.
As we were heading to the Charlottenburg Palace we walked through this quaint borough. It was a bit of fresh air as we were away from busier Berlin.
A great end to our day was seeing Brandenburg Gate all lit up at night. I almost prefer it at night, the light shines on just right.
As the storm approached, we made our way to Tv Tower, where we ended up witnessing a chance sunset after the storm passed. It was really cool to watch the sun set over all of Berlin. A great ending to our busy day.

Standing before Brandenburg Gate was the first time it hit me that I was travelling Europe. Standing next to a piece of history that you talked about in school and read in books was really quite special.
